Dongeng merupakan salah satu tradisi yang sampai sekarang masih banyak dijumpai dalam masyarakat dunia.  Dongeng sendiri merupakan cerita prosa rakyat yang tidak dianggap benar-benar terjadi oleh yang empunya cerita dan dongeng tidak terikat oleh waktu maupun tempat. Cerita prosa rakyat pun penyebaran dan pewarisnya biasanya dilakukan secara lisan dan biasanya dengan media tercetak terbatas.
